18TH C. BRONZE LAOTIAN BUDDHA

On the most recent trip to Asia, I was fortunate to find a number of excellent Laotian buddhas, and this is my favorite.  I had seen it on a previous trip, and really wanted it, but the asking price was too high.  This trip they came down a bit, so I couldn't resist.  The face is just fantastic, looking almost African with a beautiful patina that blends in with the old gilding.  This buddha was sold as 18th century, but I think it might be quite a bit older - as much as two hundred years.  It stands 12 1/2 inches high.  The price is higher, because of the age, rarity, and I'm secretly hoping to keep it.
